There is an art to cigar smoking, very unlike cigarettes. Do not smoke a cigar as you would a cigarette. Take your time, savor the taste and the aroma of your fine cigar.
If you smoke a cigar too fast, it will overheat. Overheating is not good. You can quickly ruin a cigar by overheating it. The tobacco that has not yet burned will release fumes as the overheated smoke passes and then the flavor characteristics of the cigar changes, normally for the worse. This is very true with flavored cigars.
If you have a “heavy draw” when smoking, it is recommended that you smoke a thicker RG (ring gauge) cigar. Thicker cigars have more surface area which results in a cooler burning cigar, and better flavor.
The below chart shows the many common cigar sizes available. The smaller the number (RG), the thinner the cigar...and the hotter it will burn. If you want a consistant flavor with minimal aftertaste, look for flavored cigars in the 40+ range!
